Description: Dr. John McCormack, Assistant Professor, Occidental College, visiting the BFS.
John has just recently joined the Biology faculty at Occidental College. He spoke on Friday, October 7, 2011, at a Pomona College Biology seminar about the applications of next-generation sequencing to phylogeography and speciation. He oversees the bird collection at the Moore Lab, which contains one of the world's foremost collections of Mexican birds, including Elegant quail! It was a pleasure to make Dr. McCormack's acquaintance and it is a fantastic opportunity to have him here as a colleague.
