The Robert J. Bernard Biological Field Station, an academic resource of Claremont University Consortium provided to The Claremont Colleges, is located on approximately 86 acres within the Claremont Colleges Campus in Claremont, CA. Habitat is primarily coastal sage scrub, Riversidian alluvial fan scrub, live oak forest, and grassland. In addition, an artificial lake with surrounding riparian woodland and several created vernal pools add to habitat diversity.

To provide facilities and ecological communities for high-quality teaching and research experiences in the biological, environmental, and other sciences, to the students, faculty, and staff of the Claremont Colleges

LOCATION
The Bernard Field Station is located at 1400 N. Amherst Avenue, on the north side of Foothill Boulevard between College Avenue and Mills Avenue, in Claremont, CA. The entrance is located on Foothill Boulevard. [Google Map and Directions]
USE AND ACCESS
The Bernard Field Station is intended to be used by members of the Claremont Colleges Community. With permission it may also be used by faculty from other colleges and universities. If you are a student, faculty member, or staff member of the Claremont Colleges or a faculty member at another institution and you wish to use the BFS, please submit an on-line request form.
The Bernard Field Station may also be used by community groups for educational purposes, subject to certain conditions and restrictions. If you are a member of a community group interested in having a tour or other activity at the BFS, please see the Community Use page for more information.
The Bernard Field Station is a member of the Organization of Biological Field Stations.
